The Commuter Croissants promotion at Kilmarnock Railway Station has been a resounding success. So far, more than 40 Commuters have completed Survey forms and feedback for the Active Travel HUB has been excellent. It is very encouraging to hear that there are so many people interested in taking part in our led activities. Roll on the good weather.
Commuters who either cycle to work or who are considering doing so, are welcome to free coffee and croissants at Kilmarnock Railway Station. Just pop in to Storm in a Teacup at Platform 1 and our Active Travel Hub staff will be on hand to get your day off to a great start. The offer is valid for departures or arrivals between 7 am and 9 am Monday to Friday next week. ( 29 Feb to 4 March)

East Ayrshire Council will soon be delivering Balanceability sessions in East Ayrshire Nurseries. Balance bikes can be a great way to get the little ones cycling on two wheels without the need to use stablilisers. Sessions will be delivered by a team of fully qualified instructors.Children love these little bikes and are very quick learners.
Kay Park Cycle Training facility has just had a complete makeover and is looking great. This really is a great place for adults and children to gain their confidence for cycling on roads. Brush up your skills and get ready for a Summer of cycling. Kay Park also has lovely pathways which are suitable for walkers of all ages and abilities

Lost your confidence to cycle on busy roads? Join our partners from the Cycle Touring Club Ayrshire who will soon be hosting regular led rides for beginners and returning cyclists. Experienced cyclists from the club will help you to regain your confidence and will soon have you enjoying the benefits of cycling at a leisurely pace.
Led rides are being planned for April onwards - dates will be published here and on the CTCA website very soon. All rides will leave from The Hub at Kilmarnock Railway Station where there is cycle parking available and refreshments are available at Storm in a Teacup coffee shop on Platform 1. There are also toilet facilities on site.
Kilmarnock HUB is delighted to announce our sponsorship of the Irvine Valley Walking Festival which takes place on the weekend of the 13th to the 15th of May 2016, where we will be offering a range of led rides and E Bike try outs. Get active and join in the fun.
Active Travel HUB Officer Jimmy Kirkland has successfuly completed Velotech Gold cycle mechanic training and is available at the HUB to carry out safety checks to ensure that bikes are safe and fit for use. The HUB will also be offering free bike check sessions as well as Dr Bike sessions in conjuction with local cycle retailers where basic bike repairs will be carried out on visitor's bikes. Mechanics time will not be chargeable. The only cost wil be for components fitted.
Kilmarnock Active Travel HUB Team Raise Funds For Charity at Pedal For Scotland 2015
Staff and volunteers from Kilmarnock Active Travel Hub rode 65 miles on E-Bikes to raise nearly £3000 for Yorkhill Sick Children's Hospital. The money was raised in memory of local youngster Callum Lally whose father has been involved for some time in raising funds to support the hospital.
